About the role
You will serve as a Space Scientist in a vibrant Astrophysics Branch at the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) to conduct research in formation and evolution of prebiotic organics in space, and explore the role of astrochemistry in the origin of life using quantum chemistry techniques. The Astrophysics Branch has a world-class laboratory astrophysics group, exoplanet technologies group, modeling and computational group. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Conducting scientific research to evaluate technical information and advising the research community on its implications; Applying ab initio quantum chemistry techniques to astrochemistry, astrophysics, or astrobiology; Studying prebiotic astrochemistry and the formation of molecules of astrobiological interest in interstellar clouds and protostellar disks; Writing proposals in the field of planetary science, astrophysics, or astrobiology research.
