Responsibilities

  • Plan, author, and maintain installation guides, admin/operator guides, troubleshooting/runbooks, and release notes (as needed) aligned to product releases and operational needs.
  • Plan, author, and maintain Warfighter focused end user guides.
  • Installation & deployment documentation: Create step-by-step install/configuration guides for product components and integrations (including prerequisites, expected outputs, verification steps, and safe rollback guidance).
  • Administration & Day-2 operations: Document operational workflows: upgrades, configuration changes, health checks, resource considerations, and common operational failure modes in constrained/mission environments.
  • Troubleshooting & runbooks: Build and curate troubleshooting-by-symptom runbooks (diagnosis steps, likely causes, resolution paths, and prevention guidance).
  • Aid development of training modules and job aids for user personas.
  • Operate in a Git-based doc workflow (issues/PRs/reviews), establish templates,, and improve/maintain documentation.
  • Information architecture & discoverability: Organize technical documentation so it's easy to navigate and avoids duplication across products
  • Travel Expectations: 4-12 times per year
  • The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise.
  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • 4+ years writing technical documentation for software platforms (DevSecOps, infrastructure, Kubernetes-adjacent systems strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience producing:
  • Installation guides
  • Administrator/operator manuals
  • Troubleshooting guides and runbooks
  • Comfortable documenting complex workflows; able to interpret design docs and technical specs and convert them into guidance.
  • Experience working in environments with higher operational rigor (airgapped, disconnected/limited connectivity, regulated or government contexts) preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering and delivery teams; able to drive clarity, obtain technical decisions, and keep docs aligned with shipped behavior.
  • Proficiency with Git-based documentation workflows and modern docs toolchains (Markdown, static-site docs frameworks, review cycles, issue tracking).
  • Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.

Role Description: As a release readiness engineer and technical writer, you will develop and evolve the operator- and administrator- customer-facing documentation for UDS capabilities, enabling Warfighters and system administrators in installation, administration, operational runbooks, SDKS, and training content designed for airgapped environments. This role collaborates with Product, Engineering, and Delivery to translate system design and implementation details into clear, validated guidance that customers can use to deploy, configure, operate, and troubleshoot UDS. This role includes writing documentation to be used by Warfighters on airplanes, ships, and ground vehicles!
