This role functionally reports to International Head of Finance based in London and locally to Regional General Manager.
Responsibilities
- The Head of Local Finance is responsible for all Singapore statutory, tax and regulatory finance activities, while ensuring effective day‑to‑day operation of the regional Accounts Payable (AP) hub for Asia.
- The role operates within a centralised finance model, ensuring local compliance while working in a matrix structure with a dotted‑line reporting line to London as part of a virtual finance team.
- Candidates should be comfortable operating within a small finance team, covering a broad range of activities from routine operational tasks to more complex finance responsibilities.
- Statutory, tax and regulatory compliance
- Statutory, tax and regulatory compliance including preparation of financial statements and filings
- Liaise with external auditors on statutory reporting matters.
- Manage and review all tax calculations, including corporate tax and GST provisions, on a monthly basis
- Act as key contact for external tax advisors on tax filings, estimates and regulatory queries (IRAS)
- Monitor developments in statutory, regulatory and tax requirements, ensuring timely communication and implementation of necessary changes to finance processes
- Ensure timely and accurate MAS and regulatory reporting within a robust control framework
- Accounts Payable hub and finance controls
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Asia regional Accounts Payable hub, with a hands‑on approach including direct involvement in processing activities where required
- Perform first line balance sheet/account ownership, ensuring accuracy of balances, appropriate controls, and timely identification and escalation of issues for assigned general ledger accounts
- General governance and process ownership
- Ensure appropriate process documentation is maintained across all areas within the Singapore finance function
- Central finance and virtual team support
- Provide timely and accurate local deliverables into centrally managed processes (including budgeting and reporting), in line with direction set by London
- Provide cross‑branch support within a virtual finance team, covering finance activities for other locations as required
- People leadership
- People leadership and development of two local finance staff
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with minimum 10 years experience
- Strong experience in Singapore statutory reporting, tax and regulatory compliance
- Systems knowledge:
- (i) Advanced SAP knowledge (FI andAA modules)
- (ii) Familiarity with Vermeg/Regnology regulatory reporting systems would be beneficial
- but is not essential
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong control mindset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders across finance and operational teams
- Flexibility to operate in a changing environment, adapting to the evolving virtual team model and reallocation of responsibilities
- People management experience
