Role Summary/Purpose - The MCA Engineering Program Manager for Controls and Software will have complete responsibility for programs requiring delivery of locomotive control software to Wabtec's many global customers of Freight locomotives running MCA control system. This role shall govern the entire software development lifecycle for a given program after receipt of order to software delivery. This role will be responsible for scope control, schedule, and cost internally to the MCA organization. This role will interface to internal and external customers to represent the MCA organization for a given program. These interfaces include systems engineering, production, field services, and occasionally customers. This role should have experience in systems engineering, controls systems, embedded software development, and/or software testing. The responsibilities will include work that is less defined in scope, applying concepts to issues of high/moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning, thereby effecting both short-term and long-term business goals. Projects may include scope in requisitions, obsolescence, new product development, and reliability. Essential Responsibilities - Receive hand-off from locomotive commercial team for scope required to be delivered by the MCA organization Collect and understand software requirements presented at Tollgate and evaluate budget in ESR Create detailed software project schedule utilizing Microsoft Project to identify dependencies and critical path Complete tradeoff comparisons considering scope, cost, and schedule to select optimal program plans for the software releases Consolidation of product and program requirements with multiple stakeholders from P&Ls Work with the Engineering Operations team and program budget owner to ensure approved budget is loaded and track the overall performance of the engineering team to adhere to the budget Work with a matrixed organization including design engineers, software developers, and validation engineers to ensure the software development lifecycle is followed in accordance with the Tollgate process Create Software Release Plans and ensure proper software features are mapped to the plan Work with engineers and PEs to ensure Design Reviews and Action Items required for program completion are addressed Drive completion of Subsystem Design Specifications and Validation plans, as needed for the software program schedule. Work with MCA organization for sprint planning for new program features and release branch creation Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverables, risks, issues, and technical solutions between various stakeholders. Method of communications to include, but not limiting to, design reviews, operational reviews, and core team meetings. Facilitate meetings for conflict resolution and priority calls to ensure the progress of the software requirements Mentor and guide engineers on program team as it relates to program deliverables Work with Quality, eServices, and Field Services to ensure on-time deployment of software. Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of 10 years of experience in an Engineering position, preferably in control systems 5 years of experience partnering with business teams and influencing stakeholders in a matrixed organization Good understanding of the entire Product Lifecycle Desired Characteristics -
