Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Manager of Fitness & Aquatic Services, the Part-Time Fitness Leader is responsible for the instruction of fitness classes and public relations.

Requirements

  • What You Bring To Our Team
  • As the successful applicant you will possess:
  • Level One:
  • a high school graduation diploma;
  • certification in CPR/AED (Level C or HCP) and Emergency First Aid;
  • the ability to understand simple exercise physiology, and anatomy exercise physiology;
  • strong organizational, research and analytical skills to be able to understand fitness class concepts;
  • well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients and the general public;
  • the ability to communicate orally and in written form in a clear and concise manner;
  • experience in family fitness preferred; and
  • a valid criminal record check to work with vulnerable individuals.
  • Level Two:
  • All level one qualifications, plus:
  • Group Fitness Instructor, or equivalent certification (i.e. CanFitPro); or
  • Program Specific Continuing Education Credits; or
  • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology - Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT); upon Supervisor's approval and recommendation.
  • Level Three:
  • All level one and level two qualifications, plus:
  • specialty fitness certification (i.e. Zumba, Yoga, Reebok Cycle or Johnny G Spinning, etc.); or equivalent, upon Supervisor's approval and recommendation.
  • Salary Range/Hourly rate:
  • $23.19 - $39.43
  • Fitness Leaders rate of pay varies in accordance with the type of classes taught, with specialty classes requiring certification paid in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • $24.73 - $27.52
