The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing and Food Service Equipment at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Completing special repairs and assignments that are received by work orders from authorized personnel. 2. Identifying the cause of a problem and determining materials and tools and method of repair. 3. Carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs. 4. Performing preventative maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans. 5. Training and/or supervising the work of offender workers as needed. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Documented knowledge of practices, methods, materials and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. About Anson Correctional Institution Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.
