POSITION SUMMARY: The Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor is a professional psychiatric nurse who serves as both an administrative and clinical leader to ensure patient-focused care aligned with the goals, policies, and protocols of inpatient psychiatry. The supervisor is responsible for the coordination, direct supervision, and evaluation of personnel and nursing care, as well as the management of fiscal and other resources during off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. Position: RN Supervisor Department: Brockton Behavioral Health Schedule: 32 Hours (Days/Evenings/Nights) ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: This role also includes oversight of hospital admissions, operations for inpatient and CSS as well as providing hospital-wide support to ensure safe and effective operations across a 112-bed facility. Provides clinical support, coordination, and supervision to staff in relation to daily patient care operations. Reviews and accepts admissions in collaboration with the admitting team; ensures timely, safe, and appropriate patient placement. Supports CSS through active rounding, direct consultation, and clinical guidance. Provides leadership during behavioral and medical emergencies, ensuring rapid and coordinated responses. Assists staff in assessing and prioritizing patient care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating appropriate action plans. Facilitates patient advocacy and collaboration with families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. Coordinates resources (equipment, personnel, medications, supplies) to maintain smooth clinical operations. Ensures compliance with hospital policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and best practices (e.g., DMH, DPH, JCAHO, OSHA). Ensure staffing aligns with budgetary and productivity expectations by always staffing to matrix. Investigates clinical practice incidents, initiates disciplinary action as needed, and communicates outcomes appropriately. Communicates clinical and administrative interventions and outcomes to hospital leadership and administrators on-call. Provides timely feedback and professional development support to staff. Promotes a safe and therapeutic environment, including effective crisis prevention and de-escalation. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and evaluates nursing practices for effectiveness and efficiency. Assists in managing staffing, scheduling, and patient acuity-based assignments. Engages in ongoing professional development and completes mandatory hospital education requirements. Performs other duties as assigned in support of hospital operations and patient care. EDUCATION: Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN required.
