Job Description: Purpose: Under close supervision, perform apprentice level routine building and equipment maintenance tasks in repair, installation, maintenance and construction for electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electromechanical systems in all AUS facilities. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Assists trade crews in the completion of assigned work orders, including materials ready, performing preventative maintenance inspections, repairs and new equipment installation activities. Performs preventative maintenance activities on all facility equipment and system components. Assists with modifications or equipment refurbishments and upgrades. Assists with the maintenance activities performed by third party contractors. Assists with performing system diagnostics, calibrations, troubleshooting and repairs. Operates various hand and power tools to include drills, grinders, sanders, power saws, sewer machines, pro-press, shop vacuums, water jetters, etc. Assists in repairing system equipment and components using aerial man lifts. Performs operations and maintenance tasks including confined space entry and works in hazardous environments. Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests and records the information in the Asset Management System (MS). Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised: None. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations. Knowledge of proper safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials used in equipment and facility maintenance. Knowledge of proper methods and procedures used in cleaning work area and equipment. Knowledge of tools and materials used in equipment and facility maintenance. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in using computers and related software. Skill in problem solving. Skill in planning and organizing. Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing. Ability to work in confined spaces where there are limited or restricted means of entry and exit. Ability to wear anti-fall (SRL) body harness for confined space entry or working from aerial man lifts or bucket trucks. Ability to respond quickly and perform strenuous work under emergency situations and all-weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 200 feet. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public.
