Responsibilities

  • Technical solution scoping and design: Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Scope bespoke technical solutions such as integrations, customer-specific extensions, and web-based components.
  • Produce clear solution outlines, estimates, and supporting documentation to ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Development and technical delivery: Develop, test, implement, and maintain custom technical solutions that extend or adapt standard software capability where required.
  • Configure and support technical components that enable client-specific requirements to be delivered effectively and sustainably.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered to a high standard and aligned with agreed scope, quality, and timescales.
  • Integration and issue resolution: Support the implementation and integration of software solutions within client environments.
  • Investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and provide practical workarounds or permanent solutions.
  • Work closely with clients and internal teams to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Technical consultancy and client engagement: Provide hands-on technical guidance throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build strong client relationships through reliable delivery, clear communication, and a customer-focused approach.
  • Documentation and knowledge transfer: Produce clear, structured technical documentation to support implementation, support, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and support colleagues with technical insight where appropriate.
  • Deliver training or walkthroughs for end users, client teams, or internal stakeholders where needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in a technical consulting, software implementation, development, or client-facing delivery role within enterprise software environments.
  • Ability to understand client requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Proven experience in software development using Progress OpenEdge / Progress 4GL, WebSpeed / PAS, or another comparable programming language or framework.
  • Hands-on experience with web and integration technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, XML, or XSLT.
  • Experience working with SQL and relational databases, including data querying, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting data migration, integration, or ETL activities (e.g. extracting, transforming, and loading data between systems).
  • Strong problem-solving and investigation skills, with the ability to analyse issues and see solutions through to completion.
  • Strong functional and technical acumen, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.
  • Organised and methodical, with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach to delivery.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability and willingness to develop knowledge of housing processes, client operating models, and relevant industry context.
