About the role

Ares Management Luxembourg, a regulated AIFM, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our valuation team as a Valuation Associate. In this role, you will work closely with the Conducting Officer for valuation and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely valuations oversight of our investment portfolios. The ideal candidate would be resourceful, flexible, and balanced. The role can require frequent coordination between various groups, including the investment team, risk team, other finance departments, third party administrators, and colleagues working in different offices. Strong work ethic, a desire to learn and good communication skills will be key for success. Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist in the execution and continuous oversight of the valuation function for AIFs under management. Participate in valuation meetings, taking detailed notes to ensure accurate documentation and follow-up on action items. Undertake, evaluate and review regular valuations of the assets of the AIFs managed by the AIFM in several alternative investment strategies, including real estate, private equity or debt strategies. Assist in generating regular and ad-hoc reports for the Executive Committee, and the Board of Managers Facilitate the onboarding of new AIFs and document the valuation setup process. Propose and implement continuous improvements to work processes and data collection methods. Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, working closely with Investment Accounting, Fund Administration, and Reporting teams to support application use and data management. Serve as a liaison to development teams, translating business requirements into functional specifications and providing guidance during development activities. Periodically update Ares Management Luxembourg's valuation procedures Education: BS/BA with major in Accounting, Economics, or Finance Professional qualifications would be considered an advantage Knowledge of Python or SQL is highly desirable. Excellent English communication skills (verbal and in writing) Experience Required: 3+ years of experience in valuation related experience with credit, infrastructure, private equity or real estate strategies Professional qualification and/or working knowledge related to regulated activities of AIFMs Detail knowledge of the valuations of alternative assets Detailed knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards Regulatory experience with the CSSF preferred General Requirements: A self-directed individual with a can-do attitude, willing to work in an energetic, collaborative and fast-paced environment, proactive in nature, and a proven ability to learn quickly, display flexibility and adaptability while resolving issues with minimal supervision An analytical mind and a passion/interest in bringing new ideas to increase efficiency of existing processes Outstanding communication (written and verbal), presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills; strong customer focus High accuracy and detail orientation; confident decision-making skills Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to adapt to different audiences Attention to detail, balanced with common-sense practicality Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Good judgment in terms of escalating issues vs. solving problems independently Ability to be flexible in terms of hours in order to coordinate with team members across various time zones Reporting Relationships Principal, Fund Accounting There is no set deadline to apply for this job opportunity.
