About the role

The incumbent will provide support to the Director regarding day-to-day operations, providing expert advice, technical support, and coordination for technical operations involving the National Airspace System (NAS) and NexGen efforts. Responsible for planning and directing multiple activities and programs within the Hawaii Guam District. Serves as first level supervisor for Assistant General Manager and Air Traffic Managers. To qualify for this position you: 1. Must have held an FAA 2152 FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR 2. Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility; (NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he/she has been performing the higher-graded work); OR 3. Must have held a MSS position or above for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility. NOTE: In addition, the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart for MSS positions determines who may make application for MSS-1 through MSS-4 positions. Due to this facility having all career levels at the facility a CPC - MSS-2 levels would not be eligible to make application for the MSS-4. Applicants that currently or who have previously held a MSS-3 with 52 weeks of experience would be able to make application. If you apply and have NEVER held an MSS-3 for 52 weeks or meet the criteria mentioned in 1 above, you will be considered ineligible if you apply. NOTE: FSS falls under Systems Operations within ATO. FSS Air Traffic Controllers would need to meet the requirements listed above by having experience in Air Traffic Services (ATS) Facilities or as stated above. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Career Enhancement/Career Progression: In accordance with HRPM EMP 1.29/1.29a, this position may be a Career Enhancement Assignment/Career Progression. The selectee(s) may be eligible for pay retention. Career Diversity is not enhanced when an employee is assigned to a staff or supervisory position in which they previously held on a permanent basis. CEP/CP selectees will be required to certify eligibility.
