About the role

The University of Sydney is committed to creating safe environments for children and young people across its outreach, research, clinics, teaching and engagement activities. As the Senior Child Safety Administration Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of the University's child safety program. Working within the Child Safety team, you will coordinate key initiatives, support governance and compliance activities, and contribute to training and awareness programs. You will also help ensure the University's Child Safety Policy and Framework is implemented consistently across diverse operational and research settings, in line with NSW legislative and regulatory requirements. You will work with stakeholders across faculties, schools and central portfolios to embed consistent, child‑safe practices, while supporting research activities and operational processes that intersect with child safety obligations. Your key responsibilities will be to: drive quality, compliance and safeguarding by supporting the implementation of the University's Child Safety Policy and Framework, ensuring alignment with NSW legislation and helping faculties, schools and central areas embed child‑safe practices across teaching, research, outreach and engagement strengthen audit, review and assurance activities by contributing to internal audits, supporting incident and complaint administration, and ensuring accurate documentation, escalation and keeping for matters involving children and young people engage and guide stakeholders across faculties and central portfolios, providing practical advice on child safety requirements, coordinating initiatives and governance activities, and supporting consistent safeguarding practices across diverse operational and research contexts champion continuous improvement and capability uplift by contributing to policy and procedure development, enhancing systems and processes, and supporting training delivery, awareness activities and bespoke workshops that build child‑safe capability across the University support child‑related research activities through administrative coordination, ensuring compliance with child safety obligations, and assisting with attestations, risk management documentation and safeguarding requirements for research involving children and young people. About you bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience, supported by relevant professional skills and practical expertise demonstrated experience in compliance, risk management and policy application within complex environments, ideally including higher education or similarly multifaceted organisations significant project management experience along with experience developing or delivering training programs and supporting organizational capability uplift. strong ability to design and deliver training sessions, workshops and information briefings, presenting complex information in clear, accessible, non-technical language advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and digital tools, with the capability to manage and implement administrative policies, systems and compliance processes proven experience managing diverse stakeholder groups, handling complex queries with sound judgement, and providing timely, customer focused guidance and advice excellent communication, problem solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively during high demand periods and work collaboratively within teams demonstrated experience in compliance, risk management and policy application within complex environments, ideally including higher education or similarly multifaceted organisations significant project management experience along with experience developing or delivering training programs and supporting organizational capability uplift.
