About the role

The Vocational Pathways Specialist provides early and tailored one-on-one job-seeking support for injured workers with a psychological injury who are unable to return to their pre-injury employer. This role is relationship-driven, focused on building trust, encouraging change readiness, and maintaining engagement throughout the mental health recovery journey. You will work closely with internal Case Managers and Pathways Specialists to ensure clear communication, aligned strategies, and timely progression toward outcomes. You may also engage with participants' treating doctors to support capacity building. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position based in Sydney, Parramatta, or Newcastle , with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week).
Responsibilities
- Engage with injured workers to understand their goals, strengths, and transferable skills
- Support injured workers with resume development, job search skills, and interview techniques to empower independent job seeking
- Provide tailored vocational guidance aligned to capacity and sustainable return-to-work outcomes
- Use exceptional active listening skills to understand individual goals, needs, and concerns
- Work effectively with internal stakeholders to support claims management
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders via video conferencing, phone, and face-to-face as required
- Develop transferable skills assessments
- ABOUT YOU
- 12+ months' experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or a related role
- Experience applying strengths-based approaches
- Experience working with participants experiencing mental health challenges
- Solution-focused approach with the ability to motivate and support others
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across multiple channels
- Proactive, self-motivated, and highly organised
- High level of computer literacy
- Current full driver's licence and willingness to travel as required
