About the role

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The ideal candidate for the Financial Management Specialist (Internal Controls Specialist) position will have experience in risk management and supporting internal control programs. The candidate applies risk-based approaches to assess financial and operational risks, evaluate internal control effectiveness and support mission objectives. Strong project management, problem solving, and communication skills are essential. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which has provided them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the Financial Management Specialist (Internal Controls Specialist) at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience includes: Experience conducting risk assessments and supporting risk mitigation efforts to strengthen internal control and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs; and Experience conducting internal control reviews and audits, including collecting and analyzing data, identifying deficiencies, and evaluating remediation plans; and Experience supporting financial statement and audit activities, including tracking deliverables, overseeing corrective actions, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure risk awareness and resolution of audit findings.
