About the role

Piermont Bank is a boutique specialty commercial bank focused on serving modern businesses with a digital first approach. As the first cloud native bank launched in the United States, Piermont was built on modern infrastructure that allows us to operate with greater flexibility, efficiency, and scalability than traditional banks. We combine disciplined commercial banking with innovative technology to deliver value added solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and our fintech partners. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful risk management, strong client relationships, and building a bank designed for the future of financial services. The AML/BSA Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational components of the organization's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance program. This role leads a team responsible for alert investigations, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong data and analytics skills to enhance program efficiency, optimize workflows, and support risk‑based decision-making. The manager ensures full alignment with federal and state regulatory requirements while driving continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and applicable OFAC reports.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on current and emerging regulatory changes and implement updates in operational processes.
  • Support regulatory exams, audits, and independent testing by providing documentation, walkthroughs, and remediation plans.
  • Data & Analytics
  • Leverage strong data analysis skills to monitor program performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Partner with data teams to enhance AML models, rules, and thresholds within transaction monitoring and sanctions systems.
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reports to monitor team and system effectiveness (e.g., alert volumes, clearance rates, SAR conversion, backlog risk).
  • Conduct data-driven risk assessments and support periodic updates to the institution's BSA/AML risk profile.
  • Technology & Process Optimization
  • Evaluate existing systems and workflows to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with technology teams on system enhancements, model tuning, and implementation of new tools (e.g., case management platforms, analytics engines).
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across AML systems and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with Compliance, Fraud, Operations, IT, and Product teams to ensure cohesive risk management practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams to reinforce understanding of AML/BSA/OFAC requirements.
  • Present program metrics, trends, and issues to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with hands‑on experience using data tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Experience with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and case management systems.
  • Proven leadership experience, including team development and performance management.
  • Preferred
  • CAMS, CAFP, CRCM, or similar certification.
  • Experience working in financial institutions, fintechs, or payments organizations.
