About the role

You will serve as a Legislative Affairs Specialist in the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA). As a Legislative Affairs Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating with internal and external partners of OLIA, in support of the legislative agenda for the Agency, and its representation before State legislative bodies and elected officials. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-11, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level: Reviewing legislative processes and providing awareness of the sensitivities and concerns of congress or a State legislative body; Assisting in the monitoring of congressional or State legislative activities alongside Senior Specialists and/or Managers to develop appropriate responses. Assisting Senior Specialists and/or Managers as a liaison for a variety of Congressional or State legislative events. OR b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field OR c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field OR d) LL.M., if related OR e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Applying legislative processes and providing awareness of the sensitivities and concerns of congress; Monitoring congressional activities and developing appropriate responses; Acting as a liaison for a variety of Congressional events. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Applying and assessing legislative processes to provide insight on congressional concerns; Preparing staff for congressional hearings, briefings, meetings, and testimony; Drafting correspondence/position papers and reports to management regarding legislative issues and making recommendations on changes/modifications.
