Overall Purpose The Distinguished Engineer - Infrastructure Automation & AIOps, is responsible for defining and driving the enterprise strategy, architecture, and technical standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and AI-driven infrastructure management. This role serves as the organization's foremost technical authority for infrastructure automation, establishing a modern engineering ecosystem that enables infrastructure to be provisioned, configured, secured, and governed entirely through code. The Distinguished Engineer will own the enterprise Terraform platform and its technical roadmap, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and reusable automation capabilities across cloud and on-premises environments. This includes establishing reusable modules, reference architectures, policy-as-code frameworks, automated validation pipelines, and engineering guardrails that promote consistency, compliance, security, and operational resilience. In parallel, this leader will establish a centralized, self-service AIOps capability that provides reusable frameworks, automation patterns, and intelligent operational tooling that can be consumed by teams across the enterprise. Working across engineering, cloud, security, and platform organizations, the Distinguished Engineer will drive the adoption of standardized automation practices, reduce manual infrastructure management, and deliver governed, scalable, and resilient infrastructure capabilities that accelerate technology delivery, improve infrastructure reliability, and enable enterprise-wide operational excellence. Essential Functions Serves as a recognized technical authority across the organization, leading the design and evolution of large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems. Drives architectural strategy, engineering standards, and key technology decisions impacting multiple platforms and teams. Maintains hands-on involvement in architecture, system design, and coding, including development of proof-of-concepts and resolution of complex production issues. Leads complex, multi-year enterprise initiatives from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives and technical excellence. Collaborates closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Operations leaders to deliver cross-functional outcomes. Ensures solutions are built in accordance with engineering best practices, including quality standards, CI/CD, automated testing, scalability, observability, and secure development principles. Promotes incremental, production-ready delivery and avoids large-scale "big bang" implementations. Provides executive-level communication regarding progress, risks, architectural trade-offs, and long-term technology implications. Mentors and elevates senior engineers and technical leaders, raising the overall engineering bar across the organization. Ensures compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, audit standards, and service level commitments.
