About the role
You will serve as a PROTOCOL OFFICER in the OFFICE OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS (01C) of NCIS. All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status. GS-14: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ensuring the highest degree of official recognition is afforded each visitor and that presentations and tours are commensurate with the security clearance and status of the visitor; Managing overall Command protocol program to encompass program development, planning and evaluation; Overseeing the formulation of high level and highly complex itineraries, requiring tedious coordination, planning and development; and Coordinating with commercial vendors and/or installation club managers in arranging and coordinating all aspects of social functions. GS-13: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ensuring escorts, photographers, interpreters, and staffing agencies are properly briefed before an event; Conducting continuous analysis and evaluation of protocol plans and programs from both technical and operational points of view; and Preparing the annual budget for protocol events based upon past experience and anticipated workload.
