Medical Technologist or MLT, Summer Creek & Kingwood CCC, Nights

Requirements

• Education:
• Associates Degree in Medical Technology (Equivalency Required for Foreign Education) or Laboratory Science and documentation of clinical laboratory training, or
• Experience in high-complexity testing
• Licenses/Certifications: Medical Lab Technician (ASCP or ASCP-International) or Medical Lab Technician (AMT) or eligible for certification and pass within one (1) year of employment
• Principal Accountabilities
• Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
• Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians and patients as to specimens and orders coming into the Laboratory and/or reporting results out according to the policies and procedures of the Laboratory Services and with sensitivity to customer needs.
• Complies with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital, and system; understands, communicates and complies with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies including TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA and CLIA.
• Performs duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the PI process.
• Ensures safe care to patients. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, productivity, and accuracy of practice; initiates/oversees inventory checks, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
• Gains/maintains functional knowledge of system computers as required by job assignment.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to others.
• May take part in the interview process of job applicants.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Job Summary Memorial Hermann Summer Creek and Kingwood Convenient Care Center seeks a Medical Technologist or MLT to join our team. This position is 7 on/7 off Nights. Rotations include Holiday and weekend rotation coverage. Medical Technologist-Must possess a Bachelors degree in Clinical Lab Science or related field and MLS ASCP or AMT. Medical Lab Technicians-Must possess an Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Science and must have MLT ASCP or AMT.
