Remote with travel to multiple cathedral sites The Cathedrals' Workshop Fellowship is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our growing national organisation as Head of Education & Quality. This is a rare opportunity to lead and shape practical education and training across the United Kingdom's cathedral and heritage sector, working within some of the country's most significant historic buildings and conservation environments. The Cathedrals' Workshop Fellowship is a national educational charity supporting heritage craft education, conservation skills and workforce development across a network of cathedral organisations and sector partners. Working alongside the University of Gloucestershire and leading heritage specialists, we deliver distinctive work based education programmes rooted within live conservation practice. Students learn directly within cathedral workshops, on active conservation projects and alongside highly experienced practitioners working across nationally important historic places. The organisation currently delivers: Foundation Certificate in Stonemasonry Foundation degree in Applied Historic Building Conservation and Repair specialist pathway development in joinery, stained glass and heritage building services continuing professional development activity national sector partnerships and collaborative initiatives The Head of Education & Quality is a senior leadership role providing overall responsibility for educational leadership, academic quality, programme delivery and future educational development across the organisation. This newly created role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight and offers significant opportunity to influence the future direction of heritage craft education within a respected and growing national organisation. Key responsibilities include: leadership of education and training activity across the organisation oversight of higher education quality assurance and compliance programme planning, delivery and curriculum development coordination of tutors, specialists and delivery partners student progression, assessment and moderation oversight educational innovation and future pathway development partnership engagement across cathedrals, universities and the heritage sector contribution to wider organisational growth and strategic development We are seeking an experienced and collaborative leader who combines strong organisational capability with a commitment to practical education and training. You will bring: significant experience within higher education, vocational training or quality leadership strong understanding of academic quality assurance and compliance experience leading programmes, projects or distributed operational delivery excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills the ability to balance strategic leadership with practical delivery enthusiasm for heritage, conservation, construction or craft related sectors Desirable experience includes: collaborative provision with universities or awarding organisations curriculum development and educational innovation heritage, conservation or cathedral sector knowledge teaching qualifications or professional recognition The role offers: salary up to £70,000 depending on experience full time permanent position flexible hybrid working arrangements national engagement across cathedral and conservation environments professional autonomy and leadership responsibility opportunity to shape a growing national organisation with significant sector impact The Cathedrals' Workshop Fellowship currently works in partnership with cathedral organisations including Canterbury, Chester, Durham, Exeter, Gloucester, Lichfield, Lincoln, Salisbury, St Paul's, Wells, Westminster Abbey, Winchester, Worcester, York Minster and York Glaziers Trust.
