Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality, and throughput
• Lead and support process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, 5S, Kaizen, etc.)
• Analyze production data and KPIs to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement
• Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI)
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve process issues and reduce downtime
• Conduct process audits and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and lean manufacturing standards
• Drive waste reduction, cost savings, and cycle time improvements
• Lead or participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support on the production floor
• Promote and enforce 5S, Lean principles, and operational excellence practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or related field) preferred
• 1-3 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
• Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
• Experience with data analysis and problem-solving tools
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a hands-on production environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Position is located in Durham, NC
• Standard work time: Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
• Travel may be required no more than 10%
• Job regularly requires standing, walking, climbing and visual inspection typically 50% or more of the time.
