About the role
You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Technical Support Branch, Code 135.1, of the Nondestructive Test Division, Code 135, of the Quality Assurance Office of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying all phases of inspection techniques used in non-destructive testing and having the demonstrated ability to make technical evaluations necessary to assure conformance to NAVSEA specifications. Experience understanding the theory and operating principles of all the NDT methods and how they interface these methods in solving Shipyard fabrication problems. Experience solving complex problems involving use of nuclear and non-nuclear non-destructive test methods. Experience interpreting specifications, reviewing the work of other personnel to establish proper performance, preparing technical documents, and guiding technical groups and task teams.
