About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) over a group of employees performing medical clerk, receptionist, record keeping, files management, office automation, and miscellaneous clerical duties in a large Womack Army Medical Center medical clinic. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing receptionist duties, record keeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting; experience with entering, manipulating and/or retrieving data from automated systems; maintaining patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation; and/or scheduling appropriate patient appointments manually and/or in automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
