Job Description Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Energy and Sustainability Analyst at the Central Services location in Rockville, Maryland. The work schedule is 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, grade 31 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for telework 1 day a week. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit. Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for providing professional services and expertise related to energy, utility management, sustainability, and resource conservation. Contacts include staff and administrators within Facilities, Office if Information Technology, Office of Business services, local county and community councils and committees. Duties include but are not limited to: Investigate existing building energy consumption patterns and building benchmarking based upon U.S. EPA Energy Star Portfolio Management program. Advise Energy Manager of Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs), perform building energy audits and computerized energy simulations based upon ASHRAE standards and supervise the work of professional engineering consultants and contractors. Meet with campus facilities staff to understand operating conditions and discuss suggestions for maintenance and energy cost savings. Collaborates with Facilities staff in reviewing plans and specifications and inspecting construction to ensure that building designs are energy efficient, meet energy codes and standards, comply with legislatively mandated LEED certification, support sustainability goals, meet Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS), and obtain utility incentives. Participate in the preparation of Utility Master Plans, sustainability policy and procedures, and ensure College renovation and expansions comply with those plans. Using computerized energy analysis and life cycle costing tools prioritize, analyze, evaluate, select and implement cost effective energy retrofits, and monitor results to ensure predicted performance. Prepare calculations, graphs and reports, to meet legislatively mandated requirements and inform management of resource conservation program progress. Evaluate, revise, and prepare College design guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Four or more years of progressively responsible experience working with building energy related systems. Experience with building design simulation and ASHRAE standards. Experience supporting, investigating, or integrating sustainability initiatives. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of mechanical engineering as applied to energy, utility management, sustainability, and resource conservation programs. Knowledge of best practices of integrated life cycle management (ILM), building utility and energy systems and resource conservation program outreach. Knowledge in energy conversion, energy conservation, environmental effects and resource conservation practices. The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
