Employee will serve as a Supervisory Medical Management Specialist within the Patient Benefits Administration Section of the Business Office located at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Louisville, KY. To qualify for this Supervisory Medical Management Specialist GS-11 position, applicant(s) must meet the following qualification requirements. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - A Selective Placement Factor (SPF) has been identified for this position. Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for the position. Applicants who do not meet the SPF are ineligible for further consideration. The SPF for this position is: Requires experience working in a hospital/healthcare environment, leading staff responsible for performing administrative support functions for patient clinical support services. In addition to the SPF, applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum qualification requirements. EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Coordinating, planning, implementation, and training staff on administrative patient support functions; Conducting analysis using analytical and evaluative techniques/methods to identify, review and resolve issues affecting the delivery of healthcare services, such as patient registration, scheduling, consult tracking, patient wait times, etc. and resolving problems that impact the efficiency of operations for services provided; Performing analysis on utilization reports and trend data, and identifies strategies to improve access, reduce administrative burdens, capture workload, and manage resources; Planning and formulating budget requirements, monitoring resource utilization, and preparing justification for monetary needs based on projected clinic workload or program needs. OR EDUCATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR COMBINATION (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education (in excess of 2 years) and specialized experience as described above may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
