OCCUPATIONAL AND EMPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational and Employee Health Nurse Practitioner (OEH NP) provides comprehensive employee health services for Boston Medical Center Health System, including pre-placement medical evaluations, management of work-related injuries and exposures, return-to-work assessments, immunization and surveillance programs, employee education, and coordination of follow-up care. Working collaboratively with the Medical Director and Occupational and Employee Health team, the OEH NP exercises independent clinical judgment and serves as a clinical resource on employee health matters across the health system. The position works closely with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, Environmental Health & Safety, Absence Management, and operational leadership to support employee health, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. In addition to direct clinical care, the OEH NP participates in employee health initiatives, quality improvement activities, and program development efforts. The position is primarily weekday-based. Position : Occupational and Employee Health Nurse Practitioner Department : Occupational and Employee Health Schedule : Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES Clinical Practice - Provide occupational and employee health services including pre-placement evaluations, management of work-related injuries and exposures, return-to-work assessments, immunization review and administration, and other employee health evaluations. - Perform physical examinations and preventive health assessments within established protocols and scope of practice. - Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing. - Develop treatment plans, provide follow-up care, and coordinate referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers when indicated . - Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record. - Communicate effectively with employees, managers, Human Resources, Absence Management, and other stakeholders regarding work status, restrictions, and follow-up plans as appropriate . - Provide employee education related to workplace safety, exposure prevention, immunizations , health promotion, and disease prevention. Program Development and Collaboration - Collaborate with Human Resources, Infection Prevention, Environmental Health & Safety, Employee Relations, and operational leadership to support employee health initiatives and regulatory compliance. - Participate in employee health programs including immunization campaigns, exposure management programs, respiratory protection initiatives, and other departmental projects. - Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of clinical protocols, standing orders, policies, and procedures. - Serve as a clinical resource on occupational and employee health matters throughout the organization. Professional Development - Maintain current knowledge of occupational and employee health regulations, clinical guidelines, and best practices. - Participate in continuing education and professional development activities. - Provide education to employees and colleagues through formal and informal teaching opportunities. - Participate in committees, interdisciplinary workgroups, and organizational initiatives as appropriate .
