About the role

You will serve as a Historian of NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, FOR GS-12 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Historian performing the following duties: 1.) Experience with naval and/or maritime history, scholarly research techniques, refined written and oral communication skills, archival research, and experience with editing historical documents for a government agency; 2.) Ability to develop written products on U.S. naval history of the highest quality that articulate, interpret, and explain complex materials; 3.) Knowledge of naval, nautical, and maritime terminology, naval and military technology and weapons, tactics, operations, and strategy; 4.) Knowledge of the organization, operations, and activities of the Department of Defense and the Department of the Navy.
