About the role

- Is familiar with the Health, Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality Policy and understands the responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS). In keeping with this and other compliance policies, they understand their duty to report any environmental noncompliance and/or concern to their manager or members of the senior management team (including the highest level of management) either directly or through the open reporting system as per Management System guidelines. - Track and interpret relevant environmental regulations, communicates information to vessels, shore staff and New Build department to ensure compliance with environmental legislations. - Build relationships and consult with regulatory bodies, such as US Coast Guard, etc, - Participate in environmental industry associations and committees. - Provide guidance, information, and training on regulatory matters to other departments and sea staff - Maintain the legislation register on all upcoming regulatory requirements and looks at trends for the future. - Work with internal stakeholders to position the company for future requirements - Drive the implementation of environmental policies and practices onboard and ashore. - Update relevant documents and plans to ensure the most current regulations. - Issuing of annual certificates to vessels at completion of monitoring period - Manage the development and employment of systems to ensure compliance, record-keeping, and preparation for: o ISM code certification o ISO standards systems compliance and future certification o Regulatory codes, international regulations o USCG and other relevant national and flag state authority requirements o Documentation, tracking, statistics, and reporting - Perform other duties as required. - Liaise with external stakeholders, such as flag states, port authorities, and classification societies, to ensure compliance requirements are met. - Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations to stay informed about changes in regulations and industry standards.
