Position Summary: As Staff Field Applications Scientist, you will serve as a primary technical field contact for internal applications support teams and as an SME in NIPT and Bioinformatics. You will be responsible for knowledge transfer and support for our frontline staff, delivering customer trainings and Illumina professional services as needed, and providing data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support for complex issues. As Staff Field Applications Scientist, you will also be required to provide basic applications support (installation, system validation, customer training) to customers in Australia and New Zealand using Illumina's high throughput sequencing and array systems as needed. Position Responsibilities: Troubleshooting issues related to user's technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software and instruments Interpreting customer needs and identifying if the responsibility for a problem resolution falls to product management, engineering, or other company personnel Liaising with internal teams (Product, Field and Technical support) during troubleshooting process Acting as a first point of contact within both ANZ and APJ to resolve complex NIPT applications and bioinformatics issues in the district and region, both on site and remotely Liaising with Regional and Global Product Support teams to ensure timely communication and advice provision on current issues to field teams Coordinating educational efforts with NIPT and Bioinformatics support teams globally Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers Coordinating and executing on installations including facility inspections, instrument validation, and customer training Supporting sales efforts through technical presentations and customer management Acting as a key contributor of customer feedback to marketing and product development teams Developing and improving key company processes that support our mission of building a world-class customer support organization Mentoring and coaching internal support team members in area of expertise Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Position Requirements: Prior field experience supporting customers using sequencing technologies Demonstrated understanding of sequencing data analysis software applications Demonstrated experience with next generation sample preparation technologies and protocols Demonstrated superior problem solving and interpersonal and account management skills in a commercial environment Experience in next-generation sequencing applications Demonstrated experience with instrumentation such as liquid handling robotics and optical scanners Outstanding problem solving and interpersonal skills Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service Must be willing to travel up to 50% All listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.
