How you will create an impact The Modelling & Advanced Analytics team, within Actuarial - Global Pricing, support the broader global Actuarial function in calibrating commercial lines rating solutions through predictive modelling and market insights. The raters are used by underwriters to guide pricing and risk selection and are critical to AIG's long-term profitability. The Modelling & Advanced Analytics team works alongside Product Actuaries, Underwriters, and the other teams within Global Pricing (Rater Delivery, Pricing MI and Pricing Effectiveness) to deliver best-in-class statistical modelling, data science, and technological solutions whilst supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team. The team primarily supports commercial products and in this role you will focus on North America. Role Description Work with Product Actuaries and Underwriting across North America to build and maintain advanced statistical modelling pipelines that form the basis for rating tools and support business decisions. Ensure timely delivery of a North America prioritized modelling portfolio on AIG's modelling platforms - for coded models the platform of choice is AWS Sagemaker AI where our Actuaries create, train and deploy predictive models used to calibrate raters, and provide oversight on non-code pipelines (e.g., Radar) where required. Where needed, lead delivery of Radar models for North America, ensuring best-practice build, documentation, controls and governance. Lead the training and support of Actuaries in their use of advanced modelling and analytics approaches, acting as an independent subject matter leader and coach, and driving adoption of AI-enabled tools and best practices across North America. Lead the enhancement and standardization of scalable modelling processes and tools being applied across AIG's North America product portfolio. Research and develop cutting-edge algorithmic techniques to deliver transformational improvements in process and data quality through use of data science and technology, including evaluating and embedding appropriate AI / GenAI techniques and tooling, and influencing senior stakeholders on approach and adoption. Take ownership of projects utilizing Agile planning approaches, providing end-to-end technical leadership, applying rigorous coding standards in reviewing the work of others and managing multiple junior resources. The role is suited to someone who is organized and able to manage a portfolio of projects. They should be keen to continue a career in the insurance industry, are self-motivated to research and learn new techniques and has a passion for using code and software engineering techniques when approaching analytical tasks. At Grade 23, they will operate as an independent leader, proactively shaping priorities, partnering with senior stakeholders and owning delivery outcomes for North America. They would be expected to broaden the skillset and experience of the existing team. What you will need to succeed At least 10 years of relevant experience; particularly in Technical Pricing, Actuarial or predictive modelling. Degree in a mathematical or computer science related discipline. Very comfortable coding in R, Python or other language popular for data science, with strong software engineering practices (version control, testing, code review and reproducible pipelines). Experience in using cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, Azure) and purpose-built solutions such as Emblem/Radar to deliver modelling pipelines is highly preferable, including deploying and maintaining models in production; experience leading delivery and governance of AWS and Radar modelling pipelines is a strong preference. AI fluent: practical experience using AI / GenAI tools to accelerate analytics delivery (e.g., coding assistance, documentation, testing, exploratory analysis) with appropriate controls. Experience establishing and embedding best-practice ways of working for AI-enabled analytics (model risk considerations, documentation standards, validation, and governance) across North America. Expertise in Excel, SQL or other programming languages will be useful.
