Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC , Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class provide clerical support to the Diagnostic Center of the institution. Key Duties Include: - Typing, answering telephone, transcription of dictation, making copies, etc. - Support is provided to Diagnostic Staff which includes Case Analysts, Senior Case Analysts and Diagnostic Center Director - May also be utilized for certification in running criminal background records or processing offenders - Proficiently use computers, dictation equipment, copy machines, fax machines, telephones and other standard office equipment - Proficiently use Microsoft Word and be able to type at least 50 WPM - Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under sometimes stressful conditions resulting from time constraints and expected deadlines Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences: Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
