About the role

The Hull Systems and Marine Engineer will be a key member of Chevron's Subsea, Civil & Marine Engineering community, delivering high quality hull and marine engineering support for global upstream ship-shaped production assets. The role focuses on technical delivery for ship-shaped facilities and associated marine systems, supporting projects and operating assets across the full lifecycle. This includes design assurance, engineering reviews, and operational support related to hull integrity, marine systems, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong marine systems engineering background, with supporting naval architecture skills as a plus, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative problem solving mindset. The role also includes contributing to local capability development through mentoring and technical knowledge sharing. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hull and marine systems engineering support for ship‑shaped assets (e.g., tankers, FPSOs, FSOs, FPUs, FLNG) across concept development, FEED, detailed design, construction, installation, life‑extension, and operations support phases.
  • Support assessment and definition of technical requirements related to hull and marine systems integrity, classification society compliance, marine standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams (structural, subsea, safety, operations, asset integrity) to support project and base business activities.
  • Support development and harmonization of Chevron engineering practices, standards, and technology initiatives within floating systems.
  • Participate in global collaboration and knowledge sharing with Chevron's technical networks.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, building ENGINE's long-term floating systems capability.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work effectively across time zones and diverse teams.
  • Support small‑scale project planning, risk assessments, and subcontractor engineering document reviews during key project milestones.

  • To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marine engineering/ naval architecture, or closely related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of relevant engineering experience in the shipyard or design engineering contractor in the offshore oil & gas industry.
  • Strong domain knowledge of hull and marine systems, including:
  • Marine systems design (ballast, bilge, cargo, offloading, machinery systems)
  • Hull structure and associated process systems
  • Classification society rules and applicable offshore standards
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and reviewing engineering packages for floating production facilities.
  • Ability to work in global teams with strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to rapidly learn Chevron workflows, engineering standards, and digital tools.

Requirements

  • Direct experience supporting FPSO or FSO projects across design, construction, and operational phases.
  • Knowledge of hull and marine systems integrity management, inspections, degradation mechanisms, data collection, obsolescence checks, bad-actor identification etc.
  • Asset integrity experience including managing and reviewing inspection processes & documentation, design-safeguard effectiveness checks, aligning operational and regulatory expectations and associated documentations.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing junior engineering talent.
