Job Profile: Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Pediatric Anesthesia Pain Mangement | Department of Anesthesiology | Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology Position Summary: The Medical College of Wisconsin's Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the inpatient and outpatient setting. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Wisconsin hospital campus . The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. Position Highlights: This position will provide assessment and care coordination with clinical work in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Advance practice providers work in an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians and psychologists. Clinical activities include inpatient acute pain consult services, interdisciplinary intake evaluations, outpatient therapy with a primary focus on cognitive behavioral and family systems approaches, biofeedback, collaboration with schools, group therapy, collaboration with health care providers, and care coordination. The chronic pain and headache clinics treat youth with a wide range of pain problems including headaches, abdominal pain, post-concussive syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, myofascial pain, autonomic disorders and generalized pain associated disability. Locations: Milwaukee campus and possible offsite SE WI locations Collaborate with many subspecialties across the system in the role Teaching of NP students and/or fellows may occasionally occur Reports to Medical Director of Pain Management Schedule: M-F, 40 hours with inpatient weekend coverage on rotational basis Inpatient pain service coverage does include working some holidays Potential for chronic pain call - home only Full-Time 1.0 FTE Salaried (Exempt) Department/Division Highlights: The pain program supports both outpatient and inpatient pain management for patients facing chronic and acute care needs. The outpatient program cares for pediatric patients with chronic pain and headaches utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to best care for the needs of the child. This care team includes both medical and mental health professionals. The inpatient services focuses on the immediate treatment of pediatric pain patients with pain of any duration - acute or chronic. It addresses their needs of during their hospitalzation and also helps with planning for management of pain post-hospitalization.
