About the role
As an Developer Experience Engineer, your mission is to remove friction for engineers using Toradex solutions. You'll create technical documentation, demos, reproducible references, and automation that let customers go from prototype to production faster. You will drive our efforts to have the best technical support experience in the industry, including assisting customers through our AI-powered developer community. You'll work closely with R&D, Product and Marketing and be the voice of developers inside Toradex.
Responsibilities
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Create the leading Self Service Support Experience in the Industry through one-to-many support resources (documentation, community forum), artificial intelligence and support automation
- Develop and maintain backend and tooling infrastructure that supports scalable, event-driven, containerized, and cloud-integrated solutions.
- Build and evolve AI chatbots and intelligent search systems (e.g., RAG, semantic search, LLM orchestration) to enhance our self-service support experience.
- Interact directly with customers via Toradex community forums, GitHub issues, email, and other support channels, identifying common problems and transforming them into scalable documentation, automated solutions, and product insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.
- Practical experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), especially in the context of edge/cloud integration or infrastructure-as-code.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Solid background in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)
- Practical experience with LLMs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Availability to work Hybrid from the Toradex Office a few days a week
- Preferred
- Prior experience in customer-facing technical support or developer advocacy roles, via online forums, GitHub, email, or support channels; ability to turn recurring questions into scalable documentation, FAQs, or automated tools.
- Proficient in implementing MCP (Model Context Protocol) workflows that manage and chain contextual memory, tool outputs, and structured knowledge across multi-step interactions.
- Practical experience building, debugging, and managing containerized environments (e.g. Docker containers and container orchestration workflows.)
- Comfortable reading and interpreting hardware schematics.
- Understanding of software-hardware integration, including interfaces like GPIO , I2C , SPI , UART , MIPI-CSI, and LVDS .
- Proficiency in Python / Typescript, with practical experience in a production environment, knowledge of common design patterns and anti-patterns.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash or Perl.
- Solid experience with Git and collaborative workflows (e.g., pull requests, branching strategies).
- Proven experience in system design, including modular architecture, interface definition, and scalability considerations.
- Understanding and experience with event-driven architecture or message-passing systems.
