About the role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Payroll Clerk on a part time basis (26 hours / week) to join our Payroll team in Norwich. Within this office-based role, you will support the end-to-end delivery of accurate and timely payroll across Monthly, Bi-Weekly and Weekly cycles, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time. Based at our Head Office (ideally on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays) you will also play a key role in maintaining compliance, supporting internal reviews, and contributing to ongoing process improvements. The ideal candidate is an organised, detail-focused payroll professional with strong knowledge of PAYE and pensions, who can confidently manage multiple payroll frequencies while supporting continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer full end-to-end processing of Monthly, Bi-Weekly, and Weekly payroll .
  • Manage Payroll functions including PAYE, pensions administration , statutory payments, and deductions.
  • Support the Payroll Manager with system health checks , data validation and participation in process improvement reviews and projects.
  • Conduct regular updates and reviews of the Payroll Procedure Manual , ensuring documentation remains accurate and compliant.
  • Provide support and cover across all payroll frequencies as required.
  • Ensure all payroll activities comply with current legislation, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally, delivering excellent service to employees and stakeholders.
  • About You
  • We're looking for someone who has:
  • Experience in payroll processing across multiple pay frequencies (Monthly, Bi-Weekly, Weekly).
  • A solid understanding of PAYE, NI, pensions and statutory requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Experience using payroll systems (e.g., [insert system relevant to your business]) - desirable.
