Senior Ceramics Studio Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth ceramics tutoring and guidance for all ceramics classes, inclusive of special technique classes;
• Ability to design lesson outlines for ceramic classes;
• Ability to sets up, clean, and demonstrate the use of pottery equipment and instruments safely and effectively, inclusive of kiln loading and unloading, and firing of ceramic pieces;
• Design and produce AIA ceramic products for retail and commercial purposes
• Plan exhibitions and events which includes artist workshops;
• Oversees and manages studio inventory, approving or facilitating purchases as needed;
• Monitor and ensure a clean and safe working environment, with regular upkeep of work area, equipment, supplies, and materials;
• Any other assigned ad-hoc duties.
• Qualifications & Requirements
• Candidates with a minimum 2-years experience with ceramics teaching or equivalent
• Has a diploma or degree in 3D art-related qualifications, especially pottery
• Possess advanced knowledge of ceramics (Throwing, Trimming, Glazing, Slip Casting, Recycling Clay)
• Should be able to make sake sets and teapot sets
• Experience in Raku Firing and Wood Firing will be an advantage
• Passionate about working in the ceramics industry
• Meticulous, good organizational and documentation skills
• Should possess good leaderships skills, and has the ability to effectively manage a team
• Good communication skills and enjoy interacting with both customers
• Willing to work over the weekends and public holidays
