Customer Packaging Development & Alignment Define and manage packaging concepts for new launches based on customer standards, logistics agreements, and production volumes. Request and coordinate packaging design in accordance with customer/supplier guidelines and established packaging standards. Ensure full compliance with customer-specific packaging formats and portal requirements. Lead packaging cost planning and manage project budgets for new launches and engineering changes. Serve as technical interface between customer, supplier, and internal teams regarding packaging development. End-to-End Packaging Loop Visibility & Governance Define packaging concepts considering returnable vs. disposable strategy. Monitor packaging loops (supplier, internal, and customer owned assets) ensuring proper quantity sizing and coverage. Track packaging performance indicators: cycle time, loss rate, damage rate, coverage days, and asset utilization. Support traceability and documentation control for packaging material across NAFTA operations. Contribute to risk mitigation in packaging shortages or over-stock situations. Supplier Packaging Optimization (Returnable vs. Disposable) Evaluate and justify packaging concepts based on total cost of ownership (TCO). Drive transition of NAFTA suppliers toward returnable packaging solutions. Support supplier technical reviews and packaging trials. Analyze cost reduction opportunities through density optimization, material reduction, and standardization. Validate packaging proposals against logistics flow, warehouse handling, and manufacturing constraints. Repacking Standardization & Process Productivity Develop and maintain standardized repacking instructions prior to material release to production lines. Generate and control packaging documentation (PDSs, repacking instructions, customer formats). Support warehouse and manufacturing teams in Kaizen initiatives focused on: Ergonomics improvement Material flow efficiency Repacking cycle time reduction Space optimization Eliminate variability in repacking activities through visual standards and process governance. Quality Assurance & Packaging Validation Carry out or coordinate packaging validation tests (drop test, vibration, stacking, transit simulation). Ensure packaging protects product quality throughout transportation and internal handling. Investigate packaging-related quality claims and implement corrective actions. Document and standardize packaging specifications to prevent recurrence of quality deviations.
