About the role
This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent links national defense and military strategies to achieve unified action by integrated forces across land, sea, air, space, and info domains. Responsible for strategic/contingency planning, command/control under unified command, and national security planning with other U.S. departments and agencies. You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:: Applies joint military operations and planning, the integration of interagency and allied nations and partners into joint military plans, integration of the joint force into multinational and coalition operations; DoD support to other government agencies and support to foreign humanitarian assistance operations; Incorporates Joint Force Development and Design to include the primary authorities and responsibilities of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and how those functions are integrated into training and senior leader education; Applies analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program and personnel effectiveness; Gathers, assembles, and compiles data, evaluates information, draws conclusions, devisees solutions, and prepares quantitative and narrative reports for a variety of offices and agencies; Implements the understanding of U.S. and foreign organizations, processes, capabilities and interests, as well as the wide range of international, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and the private sector interaction with them toward a comprehensive, whole of government(s) approach towards complex emergency and contingency operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
