Responsibilities

• Documentation: Produce engineering artefacts including Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Specification (IFS) documents, diagrams, plans, schedules, use cases and reports regarding the information systems being developed; and
• Team Collaboration: Participate and contribute in internal and external project technical review, coordination and progress scrums, workshops, sprints and meetings, and support quality objectives through peer reviews; and
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
• Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
• Technical Knowledge Areas:
• Virtualization, cloud, IP networking, RF communication, cross domain solutions and big data;
• Structured cabling systems for data communications, including various copper and fibre optic cable types, and the ability to develop cable schedules and drawings;
• Application of DND/CAF policies and directives in relation to communications security, emissions security and physical security;
• Combat, sensor and weapon systems familiarity is highly desirable;
• Cyber security principles and best practices;
• Project Management Knowledge Areas:
• Industry best practices and processes;
• Familiarity with project management, collaboration and productivity tools (adept at Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, SharePoint, Teams, and IBM DOORS highly desirable);

Systems Engineer - NETE (Position 06-806) Weir Canada Inc., Weir Marine Engineering Halifax, NS (alternate possibilities: Ottawa, ON, LaSalle, QC or Victoria, BC) Hybrid Purpose of Role: As a Systems Engineer with Weir Marine Engineering, you won't just design information systems-you will build the technological backbone of Canada's next-generation naval fleet. Play a pivotal role in the design and integration of complex information systems that will be installed on the new River-class Destroyers, ensuring our naval forces have the most advanced capabilities available. Bring your systems engineering best practices to a high-stakes, unique environment that will challenge and define your career. This permanent, full-time hybrid position is available in either Halifax NS, Ottawa ON, LaSalle QC, or Victoria BC. Some work will have to be performed on-site, but there is the possibility of teleworking for much of it, offering flexibility while contributing to a mission of national importance.
