Rigging Worker (Open to both U.S. Citizens and Federal Employees)

About the role

This position is located in the Office of Fleet Program Management, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD). This position is established to perform a wide variety of rigging and deck services for vessels in the National Defense Reserve Fleet. Qualifications for the position are based on the training, experience, or other requirements that determine which applicants would be able to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. To qualify for the WG-08, your ability should include experience equal or equivalent to the following: Ability to work from oral or written instructions that indicate the work location and type of item to be moved. Ability to determine, within established rigging practices and procedures, the work sequences to be followed and the tools, materials, and equipment to be used. Your application will also be rated on the following job elements: Ability to the work of the position without more than normal supervision Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Ability to provide production support service Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
