DATA PROTECTION MANAGER Rendall & Rittner - Competitive - Home Based ROLE OVERVIEW You will be the trusted expert who safeguards the personal data that underpins how we manage homes, support residents and partner with clients and suppliers. In this key property management role, you will shape and lead our UK GDPR and Data Protection Act practices, ensuring they are practical, proportionate and embedded across head office and site-based teams. Working collaboratively across the business and within the Odevo Group, you will turn regulation into clear, workable standards. You will coach colleagues, streamline processes and provide confident, timely advice so that privacy by design becomes part of how we deliver outstanding service every day. ROLE EXPECTATIONS Most days you will be advising teams on data protection queries, managing DSARs and other rights requests, and guiding projects through DPIAs and risk assessments. You will maintain our core privacy records, lead incident response and supplier due diligence, and keep policies and training current. You will track and report meaningful compliance metrics to leadership and continuously improve how we do things. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Colleagues seek your guidance early and projects consistently embed privacy by design without slowing delivery. DSARs and rights requests are handled within SLAs with clear communication and minimal escalation. Potential incidents are swiftly triaged, contained and documented, with lessons learned that reduce recurrence. Accurate, up-to-date ROPA, retention schedules and policies stand up to internal audits and client reviews. Supplier data processing risks are understood and controlled through robust DPAs and ongoing monitoring. Clear dashboards show risk, activity and improvements, enabling informed decisions at pace. HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME Providing day to day advice on UK GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR to property managers, site teams and head office functions. Managing DSARs and other individual rights requests end to end, including verification, retrieval, redaction and response. Leading privacy impact assessments (DPIAs/LIAs) for new systems, processes and services, and tracking mitigations. Coordinating and documenting privacy incidents and breaches, from triage through remediation and reporting. Maintaining our ROPA, data maps, retention schedules and privacy notices so they remain accurate and accessible. Reviewing supplier due diligence and data processing agreements, and delivering engaging training and comms. WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR You balance regulatory know how with a pragmatic, service led approach that works in a fast moving, people-focused business. You are detail-obsessed yet calm under pressure, with strong judgement and a clear sense of prioritisation. You communicate complex topics simply, influence at all levels and build trusted relationships quickly. You take ownership, spot patterns, and turn feedback and incidents into sustainable process improvements. You are comfortable being home based with occasional travel for key meetings, training or site visits. EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS Hands-on experience running DSARs and rights requests, DPIAs and incident response in a multi-site or service environment. Building and maintaining privacy inventories, retention schedules and practical policies that teams actually use. Reviewing vendor risks and negotiating data processing clauses with procurement, legal and suppliers. Designing and delivering engaging privacy training and playbooks tailored to varied, non-technical audiences. Familiarity with privacy tooling (e.g., DSAR workflows, data mapping, redaction) and common business systems like CRM/HRIS.
