About the role

As a Vehicle Safety Operator (VSO) , you will play a key role in testing and validating autonomous vehicle systems in live environments. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the safe operation of our AVs during on-road testing by actively monitoring system behavior and being ready to intervene if necessary. This position requires high attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and clear communication with the engineering and operations teams. You'll help bridge the gap between real-world driving conditions and advanced AI development.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate autonomous test vehicles on public roads and closed courses.
• Monitor vehicle system performance in real-time and take control when needed to ensure safety.
• Follow strict safety and operational protocols at all times.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly.
• Document system performance, unusual events, or software behavior during test runs.
• Collaborate with engineering and autonomy teams to provide detailed feedback and incident reports.
• Requires sitting and driving for prolonged periods.
• May involve working in varying weather and traffic conditions.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

• Valid Japan driving licence with a clean driving record.
• 2+ years of driving experience.
• Strong situational awareness and sound judgment.
• Basic IT skills; comfortable using tablets, laptops, data entry tools, and vehicle software systems.
• Ability to focus for extended periods and remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese.
• Must be comfortable with shift work, including early mornings, nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Able to pass a background check and drug screening, if required.
• Prior experience in a vehicle testing, autonomous vehicle, or transportation tech environment.
• Technical understanding of AV systems, vehicle mechanics, or software development tools.
• Familiarity with data collection practices and incident reporting.

• 職務概要
• 車両安全オペレーター（VSO）は、自動運転車両システムの公道および公道以外の コース での実地テストにおいて、非常に重要な役割を担います。主な職務内容は、自動運転車両の動作をリアルタイムで監視し、必要に応じて即座に対処・対応することで、安全な運行を確保することです。
• このポジションでは、細部への注意、安全プロトコルの厳守、そしてチームリーダー（上長）やエンジニアリングチームおよび運用チームとの明確なコミュニケーションが求められます。
• 実際の運転環境と最先端かつ高度なAI開発との架け橋となる重要な役割を担っていただきます。
• 主な業務内容
• 公道および公道以外の コース において、自動運転テスト車両を安全に運用する。
• 車両システムの動作・パフォーマンスをリアルタイムで監視し、安全確保のために必要に応じて手動で対処し操作を引き継ぐ。
• 常に厳格な安全性及び運用プロトコルを遵守する。
• 走行前後の車両点検を実施し、問題が発生した場合は速やかに報告する。
• テスト走行中のシステムの動作、 異常な動作 、ソフトウェアの動作状況などを記録する。
• チームリーダーをはじめ、エンジニアチームや自動運転開発チームと協力し、詳細なフィードバックや問題点（ インシデント）をレポート 提供する。
• 長時間の運転・着座しての業務が求められる。
• 様々な気象条件や、あらゆる路面・交通状況下など、多様な環境での業務が想定される
• 高い職務意識と機密保持が求められる。
• 必須条件
• 有効な日本の普通自動車運転免許を保有し、違反歴がないこと。
• 2年以上の運転経験。
• 優れた状況認識力と判断力。
• 基本的なITスキル（タブレット、ノートパソコン、データ入力ツール、車載ソフトウェア等の使用に対応可能であるもしくは慣れていること）。
• 長時間にわたり集中力を維持し、緊急時にも冷静に対応できる能力。
• 日本語での優れた口頭および書面によるコミュニケーションスキル。
• 早朝・深夜・週末・祝日を含む、全てのシフト勤務に対応可能であること。
• 必要に応じて、定められた各種調査 (バックグラウンドチェック等） や健康診断の基準、薬物検査に合格できること

• 車両テスト、自動運転車両、または交通テクノロジー分野での実務経験者。
• 自動運転システム、車両のメカニクス、またはソフトウェア開発ツールに関する技術的理解がある方。
• データ収集やインシデントレポート作成に関する知識や経験をお持ちの方。
