About the role
The Technical Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and repair of building systems and services. This role supports the building operations, manages contractors and supervise a team of technicians in the day-to-day on-site tasks. He must be able to work independently, strong in technical skills and lead the technician team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee routine maintenance of electrical, mechanical, sanitary and plumbing systems and endorse on service reports
- Monitor building systems such as ACMV, lighting, fire protection, lifts and escalators. Ensure all systems are functioning efficiently and any faults in the systems must be identified and addressed promptly
- Liaise with external vendors and service contractors for maintenance works
- Assist with procurement of building parts or services (getting quotations, obtaining approval and issuing Purchase Order)
- Coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure quality of work, safety, compliance with specifications and timely completion
- Verify completion of work and approve service or delivery reports
- Respond to tenants' feedback or requests for maintenance service
- Schedule technicians' monthly roster
- Daily inspections of key installations
- Create and close work orders timely
- Assist with major events such as annual power shutdown, fire drills and fire cert renewals
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering, Building Services or related field
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in building maintenance or facilities management (office buildings preferred)
- Knowledge of ACMV, electrical and building systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and coordination abilities
- Ability to work independently and multi-task
