- Completion of an ARC‑PA-approved program (prior to January 2001 - Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs)
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- NP:
- Completion of a master's, post‑master's, or doctorate from a CCNE‑ or ACEN‑accredited nurse practitioner program
