Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Understanding of the environmental regulatory and other legal requirements applicable to installation activities and operations; with emphasis on and expertise in the areas of solid and hazardous waste management, air and water environmental media, and spill prevention and response regulations, policies, and procedures. Participating in assigned program area installation visits by officials of regulatory agencies, local/community governing bodies, department/agency representatives and officials, and consultants - assesses reports, implements commensurate corrective action plans, monitors and tracks required corrective actions. Identifying environmental compliance issues, requirements, and areas of concern within assigned program areas; develops operational controls and courses of action (COAs) to mitigate risks and enhance environmental stewardship. OR at least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level: (A) Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; (Must provide transcripts) OR (B) 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR (C) LL.B. or J.D., if related OR (D) A combination of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in or related to the work of this position AND some graduate level education that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and experience. Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level.
