About the role

The Childcare Worker will be responsible for interacting with and supervising children in a manner that promotes social, physical, and intellectual growth. The Childcare Worker will also plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning, according to the ages of children, confer with parents regarding the progress of children, and perform other responsibilities as required. Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities): Adhere to the guidelines as stated in the Meharry Medical College Policy and Procedures Manual. Participate in and contribute to Process Improvement/Project Teams as assigned. Attend all appropriate client care conferences and staff meetings. Be courteous, tactful, and discrete in relating to the public, other staff, and clients Ensure that the client's children are sufficiently monitored and supervised at all times during the work shift. Respect and protect the client's rights (including confidentiality) and ensure that the client respects the rights of others by appropriately intervening and/or reporting when program rule violations occur. Acquire, maintain, and practice skills regarding sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of clients and others contacted in carrying out job responsibilities. Participate in funding agency training activities as required. Acquire and maintain a functional knowledge of internal and funding agency standards of service delivery and documentation. Maintain clinical records and required paperwork in compliance with agency standards. Assist in the collection and reporting of statistical data to funding and other agencies as required. Planning & supervising daily activities for the children of the Rainbow Program. Preparation, serving, and cleanup of snacks and meals Assist children in the bathroom if potty trained and change diapers for those who are not. Ensure the childcare room is prepared, organized, and safe for children to occupy. Inventory supplies and alert the Manager when supplies are low. Deliver progress reports to parents & therapists. Perform other departmental mission-related duties as assigned by supervisor. Education and Experience Required: A high school diploma or GED Minimum six months' experience in a child development center or related work with newborns or toddlers. Education and Experience Preferred: Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organizational ability. Bilingual (Spanish).
