About the role
Wright Tree Service, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America. Responsibilities
- Keep the worksite clean and organized by removing fallen tree debris, including branches, leaves, and trunks.
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, or feed brush into a woodchipper.
- Set up tools and equipment for arborists to use.
- Help arborists assess the health and structural integrity of trees, possibly by assisting with measurements, observations, or gathering data.
- Perform physically demanding manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Set up barriers or signs to keep the area safe for the crew and the public.
- Help with tree removal and disposal of limbs, branches, tree debris, and underbrush around utility lines.
- Operate and maintain arborist tools and equipment (chainsaws, ropes, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, and harnesses.
- Be willing to grow and learn in the role, through training from a designated arborist.
- Other duties as required.
- Experience and Knowledge Expectations:
- Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record; preference will be given to candidates with a Class 1 OR Class 3 license with air brakes endorsement.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of chainsaw experience would be considered an asset.
- Utility Tree Worker certification would be considered an asset.
- Applicant must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid First-Aid and CPR certificates.
- Willingness to travel within the province of Manitoba.
- Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.
