Responsibilities

  • Successful completion of a 3-month Residency with rheumatologists and other members of the team and passes minimum competency evaluation after Residency
  • Professional registration in good standing with the applicable regulatory body, for example: College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Membership in the applicable professional association, for example: Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Annual renewal of licensure with the applicable regulatory body, Annual renewal of membership in professional associations, Annual Performance Evaluation with Development Plan
  • Recertification in CPR

The Orthopedics Program within the Schroeder Arthritis Institute is a leader in developing and implementing innovative models of care. We are advancing integrated Arthritis Care for the future to improve patient and essential care partner experience and outcomes throughout their care journey. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), a member of the Schroeder Arthritis Institute, Division of Rheumatology, is someone who has acquired a combination of advanced knowledge, skills, and attitudes, enabling them to address complex MSK problems and manage risk in unpredictable contexts. In collaboration with Rheumatologists and other members of the team. The APP is a champion for best practice, innovative care models. The focus of this role is on Spondyloarthritis (psoriatic arthritis and axial spondyloarthritis). The APP may work autonomously and collaboratively, and influences positive improvement in service delivery, patient outcomes and population health. The advanced practice role in the Arthritis Program is supported by a body of evidence and recognized as an established role in Ontario.
