About the role

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Human Resources, this position is responsible for supporting the recruitment efforts within the organization. This position will assist in attracting, sourcing, and evaluating qualified candidates for various positions within municipal departments. This position will be responsible for the onboarding of all newly hired employees. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, an interest in Human Resources, and a passion for helping build a talented, diverse workforce that supports the community. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists with promotional and transfer paperwork. Contacts hiring department once applicant has successfully completed all phases of the pre-employment process. Coordinates employment start date with the hiring department and employee. Schedules new employees for processing. Performs customer service to internal and external customers. Assists applicants with Workday applications on computer. Assist in the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for department positions. Respond to inquiries from candidates regarding job opportunities, application processes, and status updates. Maintain accurate records of all applicant communications and recruitment activities in the applicant tracking system (ATS). Support the creation of job descriptions and job advertisements. Assist with pre-employment checks, including background checks, reference checks, and drug testing. Organize and participate in career fairs and recruitment events to promote job opportunities. Onboard new hires, ensuring that all documentation is completed, and orientation is scheduled. Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and assist with workforce planning. Continuously improve the applicant experience by addressing inquiries, providing feedback, and ensuring a positive impression of the organization. Cover front reception area for lunches and time off. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. M I N I M U M RE QU I RE M E N T S Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. Previous experience in recruiting, administrative, or customer service role is preferred. Must have reliable transportation to attend job fairs at remote locations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must have the ability to multi-task. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic understanding of recruiting and hiring processes. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires being sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Schedule will be Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.
