Our Defense division in Salt Lake City, UT is looking for a Senior Gage Design and Dimensional Engineer to join our dynamic team within the Missiles business unit. This Senior Gage Design and Dimensional Engineer will serve as a technical expert in GD&T and functional gaging for production hardware. This includes being a key resource for drawing interpretation, gage and fixture design and inspection feasibility, with the goal of improving inspection efficiency, reducing quality-related disruption, and lowering production costs associated with supplied parts. You will report to the Site Engineering Manager and enjoy a 9/80 schedule on first shift! As our Senior Gage Design and Dimensional Engineer, you will add incredible value to the team by holding responsibility for: Serve as a technical expert in GD&T, and functional gage design. Interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.43 to ensure part design is measurable, inspectable, and functionally appropriate. Design, review, and improve custom gauges, fixtures, and related tooling used to support efficient production inspection and hardware evaluation. Provide technical guidance on drawing interpretation, conformance, inspection feasibility, and dimensional disposition. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Inspection, Manufacturing, and suppliers to improve dimensional quality, inspection methods, and manufacturability. Identify opportunities to improve drawings, tolerancing, and inspection approaches for existing and new products. Deliver technical coaching and training in GD&T and gage design. Support technical definition quality within drawing review and release workflows. To be considered for this Senior Gage Design and Dimensional Engineer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you: Bachelor's degree in a related technical field preferred; equivalent advanced technical training and directly relevant experience will be considered. 2+ years of relevant experience, including significant experience in gage design, dimensional engineering, tooling design, metrology, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in ASME Y14.5 and proven hands-on experience with ASME Y14.43. Strong experience designing or reviewing custom gauges, fixtures, or tooling for production applications. Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and make sound technical judgments related to measurement and conformance. Strong interpersonal/communication skills for collaboration and coordination with internal and external customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams on complex technical issues; this includes the ability to create technical documentation and train others. Ability to work onsite in Salt Lake City, UT (remote candidates will not be considered). It would be ideal if you also had Recognized GD&T certification, instructor experience, or demonstrated technical training capability. Experience supporting production hardware in a manufacturing environment. Experience contributing to MRB, nonconformance, or disposition-related decisions. Proficiency with NX, Teamcenter, SolidWorks, or similar CAD/PLM tools. Familiarity with PLM workflows, drawing release processes, and configuration-controlled environments.
